More About Jona & Abby

Abby Guerra (González) was born and raised in Mexico City. She is the youngest daughter of a Mexican Presbyterian Church pastor. After being homeschooled, Abby pursued a degree in theology, following a desire God placed in her heart to learn how to live out the Christian worldview in her everyday life.

In 2019, she moved to Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico to work with Isaiah 55 Ministries. There, she began developing a curriculum for the Isaiah 55 Institute for the Deaf, teaching Biblical worldview classes to the teachers, and Bible classes to hearing children and youth at the community center. She also helps parents discover Biblical principles for educating their children. Abby is fluent in both English and Mexican Sign Language (LSM). In her free time, she enjoys rollerblading.

Jona Guerra was born in Tampico, Tamaulipas. He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering and is currently studying theology in seminary. In June of 2021, he joined Isaiah 55 Ministries after feeling God’s call to become a missionary.

Jona works in several areas of the ministry, including vocational training which teaches carpentry, welding, and sewing to people from the local neighborhood. He also serves in the sports ministry, where he organizes and leads two soccer teams for children in the community. Additionally, Jona is involved in a church plant and is passionate about building relationships and sharing the Gospel. His favorite hobby is playing soccer and watching matches of his favorite team, Cruz Azul. 

Abby and Jona met while serving at Isaiah 55 Ministries. Their shared calling and passion for ministry led them to a deeper connection, and they were married on February 1, 2025. Today, they continue serving together at Isaiah 55, working side by side to bring the hope of the gospel to the people of Reynosa.
