Journey to Hope

Hurting, hungry, lonely, cold, terrified, tired, emotionally drained… Ukrainian refugees constantly stream across the borders to neighboring countries. They are fleeing war, terror, and destruction as a result of a Russian invasion. For those who make it across the border, there are caring hearts waiting to welcome like GlobalGrace missionaries Sarah, and her colleagues who are working near the border in Romania.

Sarah’s ‘colleagues’ are also refugees, as they have just fled Ukraine where they have lived and served as GlobalGrace missionaries for many years. They were welcomed by Sarah, who serves in Romania. and she quickly put them to work as a makeshift refugee camp where they join local Romanian citizens in caring for those who arrive/and depart each day. They make sure that each refugee has hot meals, a bed to sleep in, clothing, transportation, and someone to love and care for them.

Sarah shares how God is at work in Romania:

“I just have to testify this evening that our God is Awesome. On Sunday my colleagues and I went to Romanian church in the morning then we took a walk before going to the English service at a YWAM base in the afternoon. At the base, there was a young Ukrainian man, age 17, who was left on his own at the border. On Monday morning he would be taken to Cluj airport to fly to Poland, where he would stay with a friend.

After the service, we all stayed for a soup dinner and my colleagues sat across from this young man and were able to fluently communicate in Russian. After eating they moved to the living room and begin to share the gospel with him. Those of us fellowshipping in the dining room, stopped a moment to pray for them and for him. About 15 minutes later...the young man prayed to accept Christ!!!!

What an unexpected meeting that only God could orchestrate for His glory and for the salvation of this young man while my colleagues are here who could communicate with him!!!!

WOW!!!! PRAISE THE LORD!!! Keep praying for this whole situation with Ukraine and Russia...that God would show Himself mighty and that this will be a great time of revival!!! Amen, AMEN!!!”

Can you imagine a teenager making a decision to leave his home, and most likely leave his family, to travel alone on a journey to an unknown future?

“And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us .”

Acts 17:26-27

Can you imagine the God of the universe scooping him up in His loving arms and pouring out His lavish gift of salvation?

Give justice to the weak and the fatherless;
maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.

Rescue the weak and the needy;
deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”
Psalms 82:3-4 ESV
